Christine Eidt, Editor-in-Chief, Spring ’24
Christine Eidt is a 3L currently attending Golden Gate University School of Law and is interested in practicing environmental law with an emphasis in water law and land use. For the Spring 2023 Environmental Law Journal she wrote an article on California’s sea level rise pertaining to a new senate bill that was introduced. Christine is a member of the Honors Lawyer Program at GGU and is taking part in the Miller Environmental Law Moot Court Competition on behalf of GGU. She has also participated in legal internships with the California State Water Board Office of Enforcement, Orange County Coastkeeper, and the GGU Environmental Law and Justice Clinic. Originally from Laguna Beach, California, she completed her undergraduate degree at San Diego State University in Political Science with minors in Sustainability and Spanish. Outside of her studies, Christine enjoys spending time outdoors with friends, cooking, and creating new ceramic pieces.
Celeste Thomas, Managing Editor, Spring ’24
Celeste Thomas is currently a 3L attending Golden Gate University School of Law. She grew up in Los Angeles, California and later moved to New Jersey to attend Rutgers University where she majored in Journalism and Media Studies. She has personal worked at a personal injury firm, the Golden Gate University Environmental Law Clinic, and now works for an employment law firm. Outside of school and her other work, she maintains a social life where she works at a wine bar in San Francisco, plays Pickleball on the weekends, goes to yoga, eats at bucket-list places around the city and sees live music.
Marcelo Torres, Issue Editor, Spring ’24
Marcelo is a 3L who is currently attending Golden Gate University School of Law and is a member of the Honors Lawyering Program. He is on track to graduate with a certificate in Intellectual Property, in addition holding the board position of Issue Editor for the Environmental Law Journal. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Minor in Legal Studies. He is interested in entertainment law, intellectual property, and the intersection between these subjects and environmental law. More specifically the compliance of the entertainment sector with environmental regulations.
Alejandro Bottenberg, Web Editor, GGU Spring ’24
Alejandro is in his third and final year at Golden Gate University School of Law. He attended the University of California, Santa Cruz from which he graduated in 2021 with a Bachelors of Art in Political Science and Legal Studies. He has been part of the Environmental Law Journal since 2022 first as a writer and now as Web Editor. He also interns at the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office in the Misdemeanor Unit during the Summer of 2023 and then in the Felonies Unit in the Fall of 2023. He is also on the Moot Court Board where he will be participating in the Miller Environmental law Moot Court Competition for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Guadalupe Villalta Ceja, Associate Editor, Spring ’24
Guadalupe is a 3L at Golden Gate University School of Law with an interest in Intellectual Property law and Bio-tech. She graduated from the University of California, Riverside where she received a B.A. in Philosophy with an emphasis in Bio-Medical Ethics. Prior to starting law school, she worked as a paralegal at a personal injury law firm in Los Angeles. She is also currently participating in the GGU’s Environmental Law and Justice Clinic during the Fall 2023 semester.
Ashley Faulkner, Associate Editor, Spring ’24
Ashley is currently a 3L at Golden Gate University School of Law with an interest in civil defense litigation. Ashley started at the journal as a writer in her 2L year and wrote about the emerging topic of PFAs in the U.S. and how recent litigation restricting levels of PFAs will likely affect American citizens. Aside from being a writer for the Environmental Law Journal, Ashley has participated in several litigation competitions, including both mock trial and moot court competitions. Upon graduating from Golden Gate this fall, Ashley will begin working in civil defense litigation.
Nick Vanos, Associate Editor, Spring ’24
Nick is currently a 3L at Golden Gate University School of Law. This is his second year working in the Environmental Law Journal, first as a writer and now as an editor. Nick is a Bay Area native and he enjoys surfing, snowboarding, bouldering, puzzling, and chess in his free time. His academic interests include transactional corporate law and cannabis law.
Anastasia Overko, Associate Editor, Spring ’24
Anastasia is currently a 3L at Golden Gate University School of Law with an interest in tax law. This is her second year with the Environmental Law Journal, first as a writer and now as a Associate Editor. She occupied positions in the student chapters at the GGU National Lawyers Guild and the Students for Sensible Drug Policy.

Christina Scarlett is currently a 2L attending Golden Gate University School of Law. She is interested in Environmental, Human Rights, Personal Injury, and Intellectual Property Law. She is a writer for the Environmental Law Journal for the Fall 2023 semester and hopes to continue learning about environmental law in her future coursework. She is passionate about the environment, the arts, animal welfare, and giving back to the community.

Brandon Turner, Staff Writer, Spring 25′
Brandon Turner is a 2L attending full time at Golden Gate University School of Law. He has recently received his masters degree in Environmental Policy, which prompted him to pursue his law degree. His passion is fighting for environmental justice, advocating for the need to mitigate the worsening effects of climate change, and providing for a more sustainable future. In his free time he enjoys visiting national parks and attending music festivals.

Jazmin Daniels is a 2L at Golden Gate University School of Law. She is originally from Los Angeles, where she attended California State University, Northridge earning her a degree in Criminology and Justice Studies. This past summer she interned in-house with Apple’s Commercial Litigation Team, and hopes to explore a career in general litigation. In her free time she enjoys reading, shopping, and watching Netflix. She looks forward to working on the journal and learning more about how the legal profession can be used to help the environment.
Alyssa Mendoza, Staff Writer, Spring ’24
Alyssa Mendoza is a 3L at Golden Gate University School of Law. In joining the journal in the Fall 2023 semester she strives to utilize her legal education to execute exacting environmental legal advocacy. Hailing from the Central Valley, she came to law school to find land use planning solutions to resolve environmental redlining issues in hopes to safeguard future generations from systematic disparities which environmental injustice has played a large rile in perpetuating. She believes in ensuring informed and meaningful decision-making in local land use planning is vital to California’s future in resolving environmental redlining, preventing further environmental injustice, and navigating effective climate change solutions. She has experience practicing under CEQA, land use law, and the California Public Utilities Commission. Her current legal writing portfolio mainly encompasses legal briefs, memos, administrative comments, and draft decisions for the California Public Utilities Commission. Her legal advocacy experience envelops developing tribal policy, providing appellate level advocacy for community groups of color, representing victims of environmental injustice, and conducting client interviews with disproportionately disadvantaged business owners.
Shawnterry Cato, Staff Writer, Spring 25′
Terry Cato is currently a 2L at Golden Gate University School of Law. She has worked in professional sports and entertainment, and by trade is a Civil Litigation Paralegal. At present, she is a college professor. She is a published author, blogger, and podcast host and prior to Covid she was the Executive Producer and host of her own Bay Area TV talk show, Real Talk with Terry. She is married to Lloyd and have three children together. She enjoys cooking and working out in her spare time.
Reagan Rice, Staff Writer,
Reagan loves the outdoors and has explored many of the national parks on the west coast. Driving down the California one, sea kayaking around the San Juans, camping in Arches National Park and hiking the Angel’s Landing Trail. From these experiences Reagan knows how important preserving the environment is for future generations; how it enriches our lives and preserves indigenous culture, and helps make the planet livable. Law is an important tool in the fight for conservationism, and Reagan intends to help.

Ariana Salcedo is currently a full-time 2L at Golden Gate University School of Law. She previously attended Sonoma State University where she received her degree in Political Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. This past summer she participated in the 1st Step program where she had the opportunity to learn about litigation work and strengthen her advocacy skills. In her free time she likes to read, go on walks, and try new resturants.

Jessica Reardon is currently a 2L attending Golden Gate University School of Law. She previously attended San Diego State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. This past summer she participated in the 1st Step Program, where she was able to learn in depth about litigation and improve my advocacy skills. In her free time she enjoys reading, painting, and spending time with family.

Brian Wong is a 2L currently attending Golden Gate University School of Law. He previously attended the University of California, San Diego where he earned a B.S. in Structural Engineering and is currently a licensed Civil Engineer managing public infrastructure construction projects for San Francisco Public Works. Public Infrastructure construction provides a unique incubator to further develop his interest in environmental protection. In his free time Brian enjoys watching sumo wrestling and learning new things.
